and the main keyword of the post-COVID-19 ‘V-nomics’ era is ‘safety’. From cost-effectiveness to safety, safety has become the highest priority in customer choice, moving beyond safety insensitivity to safety hypersensitivity.

An official from the hotel industry stated: "Customer standards for hygiene and safety have been continuously increasing since COVID-19, and now, the idea ‘how can we proactively provide sophisticated service that exceeds expectations?’ has become the new benchmark for survival."

Given this trend, LOTTE Hotels announced on December 30th, 2020 that all of its 5-star hotels operating in Korea (including SIGNIEL SEOUL) have received "GBAC STAR (Global Biorisk Advisory Council) Accreditation" from ISSA (Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association). Last November, SIGNIEL SEOUL was the first Korean hotel brand to be certified, followed by all 5-star LOTTE Hotels receiving global recognition.

The GBAC STAR accreditation system is a certification granted to hotels, restaurants, and other organizations with strict hygiene regulations and quarantine technologies. The Global Biorisk Advisory Council, comprised of global experts in biological risk management, conducts certification reviews by systematically evaluating 20 key elements of an organization’s cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention programs.

Hyun-Sik Kim, CEO of LOTTE Hotels, said, "LOTTE Hotels has been strictly managing its hygiene and safety in accordance with global standards, starting with the achievement of the international food safety management system (ISO22000), the international standard for food safety in Korea, for the first
in 2015.
