Cheesefare Week
Cheesefare Week is considered a pagan holiday in honor of the Sun God Yarila. Therefore, the main holiday attributes are burning bonfires, wheels and a scarecrow.
After the adoption of Christianity, the Church consecrated this pagan holiday and filled it with new ideas. Cheesefare Week was the last stage of preparation for Lent. In the Christian tradition, during the Cheesefare Week, believers should come closer to the forgiveness of all insults, repentance, reconciliation with others.
Cheesefare Week today is the most fun and satisfying folk festival when pancakes are baked, because in their form they resemble the sun. This tradition is connected with the desire of people to win over the sun and persuade it with the help of delicious pastries to warm the frozen ground.
