Course Introduction


From the breathtaking views from atop the summit of Mt. Ogenashi.
To the beginner-friendly pony course with a clear view of the region-famous Mt.Myoko.

● Pony


Arai Resort Lift

With a breath-taking view of Mt. Myoko to the south, the Pony is our gentlest slope. With direct access to the PLAZA area and the hotel, it is a course perfect for first timers to learn the basics and beginners to acclimate to the snow.

◆◆ Mamushi


One of ARAI's famous free riding zones, it is for the best of the best riders. Bowls, ridges, cliffs, trees, anything you could wish for Mamushi has it all.


SLOPE COURSE

● Myoko Long Run
The longest course we have at ARAI. A scenic route offering a gentle ride across the mountain, with panoramic views of not only the hotel, but the entire Shinetsu Area.

● Roppongi Road

Roppongi Road takes you on a leisurely descent down to Roppongi Station giving you a view of the Mamushi area on the skiers left.

● Village Road

Village Road connects Roppongi station to Village station, a shallow slope comparable to Pony. Mostly used to get back to Sanroku lift after going through KG and Discovery.

● Sunrise

The Sunrise course has a wide starting area compensating for the steepness at the start, but mellows down to a shallow angle after halfway down the course.

● Pony

The Pony course is the go-to course for all the first timers and beginners. With the gentlest incline amongst all our courses.

■ Encore

The place to head to when looking to practice longs carved turns. Its long wide runs give you plenty of space to show off your carving skills, just be sure to check behind before committing to your turns.

■ Be Free

The Be Free course is one of our more interesting runs, giving you options to head left to happy place, or off right into funaishi whenever you like. It even ends at the bottom of the Zendana lift, letting you pop back onto the lift again with no delay for more powdery fun.

■ Bear Valley

Heading left and down the mountain, Bear Valley connects the top of Zendana Lift to the top of the Kokenashi lift and the start of Myoko Long run.
Be advised that there is a small black rated section near the middle, and you will have to take the gondola to get back up to Be Free or Encore.

■ Tategami

A short cut heading straight down to the top of Sanroku 2nd Lift. It connects down to Umanose in a near straight line.

■ Umanose

Easy to cycle through via the Sanroku 2nd lift, it gives you access to both KG and Sunrise, head over right to Sunrise near the end if you wish to avoid the big drop at the end of the course.

◆ Legendary (off-piste)

After a 10 minute hike heading left after getting off the gondola, you will arrive at Legendary. Like the name itself, Legendary will make you feel like a Legend going though all 3 steeps in the course. Be an envy to the people on the gondola above as you streak past underneath them on all the powder.

◆ Exciter(off-piste)

Tired of going on cat tracks after your black diamonds? Dreading the hike up to get to one? Exciter is the solution, it offers the best black run / lift time ratio. Get off Kokenashi lift, head left then straight down through Exciter. Where do you end up? right at the start of Kokenashi for another round of adrenaline.

A hidden gem right at the foothills, Discovery is a free riding area featuring various terrains for you to enjoy.

◆◆ Mamushi Gaeshi(off-piste)

The name comes from "Mamushi" and "gaeshi (hikkuri-kaesu)" which means "Viper" and "return (to flip)"in Japanese. It is in local folk lore that this course is too steep so that vipers flip over trying to climb up.
Try your chances at the course, and be careful not to flip over yourself.
