The island of Jeju, surrounded by the sea on all sides, is a fantastical island with Hallasan Mountain towering at the center at a height of 1,950 meters. The name "Hallasan" means a mountain so high that it can reach the Milky Way. Historically, it was also called Yeongjusan, as it was believed to be a place where divine beings resided. In 2007, Hallasan was designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Additionally, the mountain is a treasure trove of flora and fauna, boasting diverse vegetation and significant scientific value. It was designated as a Natural Monument in 1966 and has since been protected.
